Gravel Road on rockymountainradio.net: Outside the city-limits.
Genre: Alternative Music
Two channels of internet radio and a 24-7 endorphin rush. ALTITUDE (Alternative) and GRAVEL ROAD (Alt-Country and Americana). www.rockymountainradio.net GRAVEL ROAD: Where are we? More than a few miles out past the city limits and well off the multi-lane freeway, the pavement ends but a road of sorts continues to this place. The 'gravel road', my friend, is really no more than the gritty surface under your journey; it's not a destination and it's definitely not the city. When the sun goes down, the bright lights out here are just the moon and a campfire, maybe a kerosene latern. Now you can let loose or you can reflect. in fact, why not both? Look, we grew up with hard rock and punk rock we like our music to be in-your-face a bit. Gravel Road is that kind of music and it takes its influence from country, blues, and folk, with sprinkle of other "Americana" like bluegrass, gospel, and zydeco. Oh yeah, and rockabilly and some classic rock show up. Acoustic sounds, electric sounds, male voices, female voices, mostly uptempo, a bit of downtempo, new music, some from a few years ago and a few pieces of ancient history before your time, kid. Mostly the artists are from the edge of the mainstream, but we aren't going to pretend so heavy hitters didn't play here, too. Like who? (namedropping time) Steve Earle, Whiskeytown, Lucinda Williams, Drag the River, Lydia Loveless, Red Eye Gravy, Patsy Cline, Grateful Dead, Hank Williams, Drive-By Truckers, Neko Case, Hayes Carll, Lyle Lovett, The Avett Brothers, The Be Good Tanyas, Uncle Tupelo, The Band, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Glossary, Johnny Cash, Son Volt, (are you with me so far?) Bob Dylan, Wrinkle Neck Mules, Brenda Lee, Calexico, The John Henrys, Hank Williams III, k.d. lang, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crooked Still, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Elvis Costello, Carl Perkins, The Jayhawks, Freakwater, Wilco, Jerry Lee Lewis, (really? you're still reading? ok let's keep going) Elvis Presley, Corb Lund, John Hiatt, Justin Townes Earle, Billy Bragg, Kathleen Edwards, Lefty Frizzell, Little Milton, The Long Ryders, Ray Price, Lucero, Gillian Welch, Willie Dixon, Waco Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The SteelDrivers, Middle Brother, Nathan, Neil Young, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Ray LaMontagne, Reckless Kelly, Roger Miller, Tom Waits, The Rolling Stones, The Sadies, Romi Mayes, Ryan Adams, Chatham County Line, Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs, and many, many, more. hey, send me your ideas if you got this far and you think this ain't enough.
