This is a wonderful station. Plays a permanent playlist of Seeburg 1000's Basic background series of records. Each side is 40 minutes long, and a brief identification message is slotted in between. So unlike other stations you get to hear the whole record uninterrupted. These records were produced from the ilate fifties to the mid eighties, and contain a variety of big band, small group and orchestral covers, along with tracks recorded by production music libraries.. The tempo varies from medium fast to medium slow. The playlist features a set of records from 1966 to 1970, and plays them pretty much in order of the production date.
Listeners will notice versions of show tunes especially in the 1966-69 records, and something more contemporary in the 1970 discs especially the start track of each disc. As these recordings were never inventorised when the LPs were pressed, and of course many tracks were specially arranged for Seeburg, actual track names will not be displayed, but if you are lucky, your Shazam will identify a few. Look out for Emile Stern, Eddy Barclay, Peter Loland, 101Strings, Lawrence Welk and Jerry Jerome to name a handful.
A reliable station for lovers of background instrumental music.

Update:
From September 2017 we have a new playlist with a mixture of records. The content is now kept secret for reasons unknown, and the app displays the disc IDs as an encrypted alphanumeric 4 character code. S1K have not confirmed whether this is intentional or a data display fault.
Anyhow the playlist is varied, is shorter than the straight basic playlist (4 days 20 hours as opposed to 6 days) so you can expect to hear your favourite tunes more often. I will update this review for listeners as soon as I can get some answers from the lovely people who bring us S1K.

Great station. 40 minute compilations of jazz, big band swing and romantic string arrangements with a few piano tunes thrown in. They have switched from using the old records to compilations that have been made up from them, to sound authentic and last the same time as the records used to. Much the same as Radio Coast except the guys running it have made compilations that are played out in full and repeated once or twice a week, whereas radio Coast just play randomised tracks interspersed by news bulletins. Therefore Seeburg1000 is far, far superior for its listening experience. The person or persons compiling these disk-length recordings has enviable skill and flair! Long may they continue.
