WMNF first went on the air in September, 1979, the result of a few years of hard work by a small group of dedicated volunteers who went door-to-door raising mon…ey for Florida's first community radio station. The call letters stand for: Member-sponsored Non-commercial FM. WMNF continues to be volunteer-powered and listener-sponsored, providing the listening community with eclectic music as well as non-mainstream news, views and public affairs programming.
