Our station was created in 2016 by Hawaiian music industry veterans Randy Hudnall and “Bruddah Wade” Faildo. As former radio disc jockeys and programming directors, Randy and Wade have over 50 combined years of experience, making them two of the most knowledgeable Hawaiian music aficionados in their field. Hawaiian Music Live was born from Randy and Wade’s wish to continue keeping Hawaiian music alive and to go one step further and expand it globally to reach fans in and beyond the island. Featuring the legendary “Uncle” Sam Kapu, Kamasami Kong, and Billy V. (William Van Osdol) as the imaging voices of the station, Hawaiian Music Live brings you the best mix of Hawaiian music. It stays true to Hawaiian music’s roots by playing traditional Hawaiian music by such artists as The Kahauanu Lake Trio, while also playing contemporary Hawaiian music (Keali`I Reichel, Hoku Zuttemeister, Weldon Kekauoha), and island music (C&K, Kalapana, Fiji). Hawaii Music Live broadcasts at 192 bitrates, ensuring our sound is crisp and clean. Our music selection ranges from the late 1960's to the present, playing a variety of music, including Hawaii Grammy Award winners and nominees, as well as Na Hoku Hanohano winners and nominees. Additionally, we will be featuring new artists, allowing them an opportunity to be heard, some of them for the very first time. We have many listeners in Asia: our fan base in Japan, China and Korea has been growing steadily, and we are absolutely thrilled to have found a way to bring Hawaiian music to Asian fans. Furthermore, we plan to give our listeners a taste of Hawaii's culture by featuring videos, promoting local events, and adding interviews and podcasts.
